Both teams have played nine games and lost six of them, but Deccan remain ahead of Delhi due to better run-rate.

Going into the match, Deccan hold an edge as they play at their home turf but for that they will have to get over the 20-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday.

Deccan skipper Kumar Sangakkara will hope to break the series of defeats and earn full two points that will keep their campaign afloat.

Sangakkara has also issued a warning to the foreign players asking them to pull up their socks and deliver.

He said: “The overseas players have to take big responsibility. They need to come here and win games. Unfortunately, we have not been able to convert many of the starts and that’s something we need to look at.”

“It is a bit frustrating and not good for us. We take a lot of pride with the way we play our cricket and to lose as many games as we have done, it really hurts. It’s very disappointing.”

Sangakkara is the only batsman for Deccan to have performed consistently while the others have limited themselves to a one or two match wonder.

Shikhar Dhawan, Sunny Sohal and Bharat Chipli have shown what they ate capable of but the only missing thing is consistency. If the trio come out well, then there no stopping Deccan.

The bowling, however, looks pretty decent and Deccan will be looking up to Dale Steyn and Ishant Sharma to provide them the early breakthrough.

The spin attack will be spearheaded by Amit Mishra and Pragyan Ojha.

Delhi, on the other hand, will rely on their skipper Virender Sehwag and his opening partner David Warner to take them through.

Except the two, none of their batsmen have managed to impress with the bat and it will probably their last chance to prove their worth.

The bowlers led by Morne Morkel have been impressive in parts and to get the better of Deccan, they need to perform as a unit.

On paper, both teams are evenly poised and the team that performs well in all three department of the game will emerge victorious.
